9:32 pm - BlazBlue Fun
This is me and my buddy Nabi playing BlazBlue from Arc System Works. This is like the 3rd match I played, so I had no idea what I was doing. Not too bad, all things considering! Online play was stable, not too laggy... which is a surprise on day one. :) Also, the dubbing is really good, something that's an inhuman feat for a fighting game. This was capped as a test for a project I'm doing.

Check out the bottom link for the HD 720p version.

5:31 am - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 Cover

Time travel seems to have adversely affected Sarah's head to body ratio.

The press assets for this show was generally high quality, too, despite the dip in quality in the writing for the second season.

12:14 pm - My Xbox 360...
...broke again. I don't believe it. It won't read disks anymore. This will be the 4th time I've had to send it in to be "fixed." I don't even play it that much. I get it back, play it a little bit, and let it sit. I come back 3 or 4 months later and play something new, and then it suddenly stops working. It sits on my TV stand and gets dusted, really... I don't throw it around or abuse it... what the hell MS?

It's really mind numbing. The awful experience people had with the PS2? I never had it. I was as careful with the 360 as I was with those, and still, broke broke broke. I guess it doesn't help that the 360 sounds like it's going to achieve liftoff every time I try to turn the damn thing on.

People wonder why I pick up most of my multiplatform games for the PS3.. and this is it: I'm less afraid of the thing breaking on me if I look at it the wrong way.

(Pictured: My 360 the first time it died due to the video stuff coming unseated.)

3:21 am - MST3k in HD
... it just seems wrong somehow.

More shots! )

The awesome model shots and stuff are a lot easier to appreciate in nice clean HD, as TVified as the bitrate is. The opening shot of the Satellite of Love is so well done.

The movie was on HBO a few weeks back, and I DVR'd it, so the screencaps are mine. Here's hoping this is released on BluRay soon.

The Lower Right is still coming.

3:49 am - PlayStation Home Face Challenge
When CousinErik and I started screwing around with PlayStation Home back whenever they launched the darn thing, we realized it's almost impossible for the average, recreational to build a decent face with it. The settings are waaay too overcomplicated, and the hairstyles are just bad.

Someone eventually challenged me to try to create a decent face... 2 hours later, this is what I came up with.

STEEL EYED GAZE OF DEATH.

I think to make a decent face with the thing, you really have to know quite a bit about anatomy as well as how 3D modeling works. There are probably 100 sliders alone for faces in this, and it's in no way easy to make a likeness of yourself as it is with the Wii and Xbox 360. Mostly because the models are caricatures, whereas Home tries for this weird ultra reality where everything's clean.

Even here, it's not perfect. I have to use the 'advanced' controls and warp certain stuff to weird settings just to get things to look close to right.

Sony, if you want to improve this thing, make some super simplified ways of making faces.

Lots of options are cool, but if people can't make something decent in 5-10 minutes, what's the point?

Aside from this, CousinErik and I also realized it was more fun to mess around with HOME, so we created 'The Lower Right.' A character whereby we set EVERY SINGLE SLIDER to the bottom right. What is produced is the most horrific looking fat goth chick with ugly pink hair you could ever imagine. The daughter of Swamp Thing and a raver, it really looks like she hasn't bathed in a week.

We walked around the square, and all the 100s of rail thin supermodels and hipsters kept asking intently, "preggers?!" CousinErik's replies ranged from 'No, this is how I actually look.', 'Nah, I'm just fat.', to 'I'm a spy.... from the wind village in Naruto!!!'

The 3 of you at home who have PS3s: Try to create a decent face yourself and post your results.

Also, thanks guys for the concern in the last post. I'm feeling a lot better, and moving forward to try to be more healthy.

11:42 pm - State of the Brady!
Hey guys, I know it's been a while, so I figure I should update this with something. It's been health related stuff, unfortunately, and blathering about it every day is kinda depressing.

The short of it is... I've not been feeling well lately. I've been really tired lately despite getting pretty good sleep. Last Thursday, I was finishing up some work and my face suddenly felt like it was vibrating. When it stopped, I got real dizzy and lightheaded, bad headache and felt like I was going to be sick (but I never was). Felt like my heart was beating fast and my chest had butterflies in it. I went and had my mom check my pulse, and she said it was okay. I went to bed, woke up yesterday, helped a friend with his computer.. I had a headache, a little stomache discomfort, but it wasn't until 2AM when I started feeling really bad. Same stuff, though not the face vibration thing. Again, my pulse was okay..

We went to the Doctor's on Friday, they took an EKG, a blood sugar test, checked my blood pressure, heart, etc. They said it was normal, though said my blood sugar was a little high for someone who hadn't eaten since the night before. They said that they're not sure what it is, might be stress and overworking, or it may be the early signs of diabetes (..). Either way, they told me to take it easy the next 3 or 4 days and rest. Take some Advil PM and get good sleep. They said to come back for a checkup in a week or two.

One thing I noticed is I hadn't gone to the bathroom in quite a while, and I really couldn't go the night before. On the way home from the doctors when we stopped to eat, I made sure I got some tomatos (this always works for me), so when I went I felt quite a bit better.

I've been feeling better generally, though, still quite tired and sometimes a little dizzy. I still don't know what it is exactly. It's possible I may have inadvertently dropped my caffeine intake, and it's just messed me up all sorts of ways. Maybe it's something else.

Hey Marylanders, is this going around?

I've felt like crap for a week, with the usual fluids coming out of ends that aren't fun.

3:14 am - Tiny Toon Adventures: Defenders of the Looniverse
Looks like a dev or review build was finally leaked!

I'm going to set it up later and try it out. For those not in the know, this is a Treasure developed game based on the Rakugaki Showtime engine that never made it out.

Someone has created a complete playthrough on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=55576DF5F0DBBCCC

1:28 pm - Not tsumo?
@ Kiken, or someone who knows mahjong!

Why is this not tsumo? Is it because I have a chi and a kan?

I have 3 9's in balls, 4 2's in sticks, 4-5-6 in numbers (I even changed this to 2-3-4 during the rest of the match), 4-5-6 in sticks, and the two souths.. right?

If it's the chi and kan, how do you tsumo with that? I'm pretty sure you can with one?

EDIT:

;_; So I called chi on the 5-6-7 balls, then I have 2-3-4 in numbers, 6-7-8 in numbers, 5-6-7 in bamboo, and then a pair.. what am I doing wrong? Am I reading the number tiles incorrectly?

4:10 pm - Shameless Self Promotion, go!
I try not to whore myself out, but... hard times and alla that.

Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? Official Strategy Guide. I designed/laid this out, much like the Persona 4 guide and such. Here's a preview, in awesome ebook form!

Electronic only, but also quite a bit cheaper than a print version and includes the same level of strategy our other books have always contained.

It's a new venture for us, so if any of you kind souls can link it out, even if you'd never buy an eguide, that would be cool.

So, for some reason my journal icon was changed to this. I think someone hacked my acount, maybe?

EDIT: Upon further examination, apparently I'm the only one who sees this!

10:03 am - Domon Kasshu's Favorite Game

We went up to Dave and Busters for my birthday a few weeks back and saw... this. FLAMIN FINGER is a game by Namco whereby you trace your finger on the screen and try to get to the end of the maze before the time runs out. It sort of cheats by speeding up at the end, though it is apparently defeatable.

The game tries to entice you into playing it by shouting 'GET YOUR FLAME ON!!' at you randomly. I'm dead serious.

3:12 am - Drew Struzan and the Sadness of Photoshop Douchebaggery
See if you can locate all the unnecessary photoshoppery applied to the fantastic original painting after the fact:

(Click to biggerfy.)

That said, you might not know him, but you probably know his artwork. If you have a love of movie posters, most of the ones you love are probably by Drew Struzan. If you haven't visited his site and checked out his gallery, you should. It's located here.

If you do art or are even interested in art, you should also do yourself a favor and listen to the following interviews with him as well. He talks about his opinion on doing art then and now (he still paints and does everything without computers), his opinion of what art should do, how it should touch people's hearts, and other interesting stuff. Even if you don't agree with his opinions, it's worth listening to these.
