Christopher Walken Can Dance
The Christopher Walken Theory, as proposed by
cousinerik, states that if Christopher Walken is in a movie, he will either die, or at the very least, something very bad will happen to him.
Generally, we play a game- Proving the Christopher Walken Theory. Which involves naming a movie, stating the bad thing which happens to him in it, and then naming another movie to try and top as well as stump the other person.
For instance, The Prophecy? Burned to death. In Suicide Kings? He had his finger cut off. Batman Returns? Electrocuted to death by a girl dressed as a cat. Stepford Wives? He was not only already dead, but also a robot, who /then/ got his head smashed off. Finally- For Gigli? He had to be in it.
Man on Fire is one of the few movies we haven't cracked the theory on yet.
Of course, other than dying, the other thing Christopher Walken is good at is dancing.
I ran across this today, and in some discussions with
jen_aside, we had talked how anime music videos have to be 'special' in some way to work. And that, very rarely, is the cut+paste together worthy of being called cool.
I never brought this up, but up until this point, I've never seen a music video cut together from something /live action/ that was any good, myself. I've seen quite a few actual anime videos which were pretty basic that I liked, however, nothing live action.
Today I stumbled upon this tribute to Christopher Walken, which takes all of his best dance moments and puts them to music. Even the parts they cut out of Fatboy Slim's Weapon of choice (excellent video, by the way, if you've never seen it- it's here.. Choregraphed all by Walken himself. I like it a lot because it's a music video which relies on talent and not flash or CG) seem to fit. This is a move I wouldn't have done- In fact, while I like some simple AMVS, I honestly hate it when anime music videos take the opening animation to a show and use them.. which is kinda what using Fatboy Slim is like.
I'm not sure why it works for me, but it's got a sense to timing a lot of live action videos cut together from movies don't usually seem to have. Hell, that a lot of anime videos don't have. I think the person chose a lot of the best timed scenes for it. Maybe also the fact that he's dancing, which is generally a reaction to music, helps a lot as well.
On a side note, I'm also trying to figure out what all the scenes are from. I've watched a lot of Walken, but not all of Walken. As far as I can tell-
Weapon of Choice
Pennies from Heaven
Empire
No Idea (In Red Plaid Shirt)
No Idea (Dancing infront of trees.)
Joe Dirt
Weapon of Choice
Joe Dirt

Catch Me If You Can

EDIT: Lots down. Dancing Janitor, gym, black suit, and bar dance.
Anyone want to help me try to figure them out?
